Scent left in tracks by deer, can greatly affect trail activity. It's true, the interdigital glands in a deer's hooves will leave different intensities of scent. If they sense danger, are in heat, or have a territory to protect, followers will know through their tracks. Keep this in mind, if you frequently spook deer in one spot, danger scent left in that area will put other passing deer on alert.
